2019 Scholarship

Margaret V. Diggs Creative Arts Scholarship Recipients

Valley Youth Theater Summer Musical Camp

Restricted grant of $3, 415.00 awarded to cover program registration and administrative fees.

Five children (aged 7-14) were selected to attend.

Parent Testimonials:

“Our son spent five days a week, 8 hours a day at the VYT summer camp and when it was time to come home, he consistently asked for more time. At age 7 he was able to find a passion that excites him and gives him the opportunity to express himself and experience pure joy.”

“Working with Valley Youth Theatre every year is something that really helps her learn more skills, but she gets a feeling of belonging. This year without the scholarship she would not have been able to attend. She mentioned how going the camp helps her believe in herself.”

“She faced a tough year last year with bullying and other things that just caused many doubts about who she is. Valley Youth Theatre is always a great gift to her, and we try to put her in every year.”

“He was more confident and most importantly had significantly increased his ability to regulate his emotions in stressful or otherwise triggering situations. I credit the time he spent with like-minded children and adults at Valley Youth Theatre.”

Thank you to VYT for providing a fun, creative environment for these students!

About Our Partnerships

The following community organizations involved in the arts have partnered with Inspire Youth Enrichment Foundation to identify eligible students to receive scholarship funds.

Each organization provides programs for hands-on training and experience in the performing arts to children of all ages and backgrounds in a safe and creative environment. The programs incorporate opportunities to perfect technical skills, develop friendships, have fun, and perform in front of a live audience.

Valley Youth Theater (VYT) has made an impact on hundreds of thousands of children and their families through performances, workshops, showcases and youth development programs. Representing all socio-economic backgrounds, we allow them to act, dance and sing in a safe setting. There are never fees, charges for costumes or ticket sales quotas for them to meet, just the hope that they will become the best people they can be.
Childsplay’s annual programming includes: nine months of in-house productions for school and family audiences at the Tempe Center for the Arts; an on-site academy of theatre classes throughout the year; and a variety of education outreach programs embedded throughout the greater Phoenix community.
Ballet Theatre of Phoenix’s Summer Intensive offers a rigorous, inspiring and unique experience for advanced dancers ages 12+ with at least 1 year of training on pointe. Immerse yourself in high-quality technique classes and experience the creative process, repertoire, and movement styles that are necessary tools for every ballet dancer. These four weeks of discovery will culminate in a public showing on Friday, June 28th, 2019.
